When you just don't feel like breakfast…

by Lisa on August 12, 2010 · 0 comments

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. First of all, it’s been at least 6 hours since you’ve last eaten. Because you have essentially been in a fasted state, breakfast is SO satisfying.

I also LOVE breakfast foods. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, cereal, yogurt…I can eat them anytime of the day and I’m much happier for it.

This morning was odd. I did not crave eggs. Pancakes. Bacon. Toast. All I could think about was the 2 slices of leftover meatloaf sitting in my fridge. Who am I to deny a craving for two-day old meatloaf?!

So, I wrapped up my meatloaf in a high fiber tortilla and called it breakfast.

Exciting, I know (sarcasm).

Sadly, my meatloaf is all gone. Luckily, it was an extremely satisfying breakfast. It pays to listen to your cravings.

I also got up this morning and took the dogs for a nice walk and then hit up the gym at my apartment and took my jump rope for a short and intense cardio workout.

I have always absolutely loved jumping rope. It’s hard, but it doesn’t FEEL like cardio to me because I think it’s so much fun.

I loved it! It was different, sweaty, and intense.

30 days of insight: What you imagine paradise to be like

Ahh, tough one. I believe that my image of paradise changes on a monthly basis. I think that paradise is a place with no worries. Just fun, relaxation, and peace.

I’d have the mountains on one side of paradise.

I love the mountains. I love to snowboard. I love the way the air smells. I love feeling so small and in awe of God and the Earth.

The other side of paradise would be a beach and the ocean.

There is nothing better than hearing the ocean waves at night or sitting on the beach looking at the endless ocean and realizing that life is full of so many possibilities.

I’d have friends with me. And music. No one would judge. I’d probably want all of us to be naked and free and happy. Plus, there would be all the foods in the world. All the healthy stuff with all the unhealthy stuff and we could eat to our hearts desire…never feel full or hungry and not gain weight.

All that would be my paradise.

Do you strictly eat breakfast foods for breakfast? Does the “meal” (lunch, breakfast, dinner) dictate what you eat?

What’s your paradise like?

Jumping rope! Man, I haven’t done that since I was a little type. That sounds like SO MUCH FUN! I should go buy one at the dollar store and jump away my fat BAHAHA! Seriously, I want to hook up my HRM and see how many calories you can burn jumping rope- I bet it’s a ton!

Wherever the heck that beach picture is, that sure does look like paradise!!! Oh yeah, and loved the whole “eat whatever you want and still have the perfect body” type-paradise, too:)

jump roping is HARD and it can go by so fast! I am going to start doing it for my cardio too!! I have noticed from yoru breakfast that you always are a more ‘savory’ morning person, meaning eggs with veggies and hot sauce rather than oats with cinnamon and sweetner so its no surprise to me that you wanted the meatloaf! hey, sometimes you just want what you want no matter what time of day it is!! I am sure it was darn tasty!

I love breakfast foods any time of day!
Jump roping is so much fun and such a good work out. I took a class called “rope and tone”, it was jumping roping/strength training and it was intense! Awesome, but intense, lol!

I’m so glad you have weird brekkie cravings too! Sometimes all I want in the morning is chicken – it’s SO weird!! (It seems chicken is becoming my best friend these days… which is not good for the part of me that is trying to eat a non-meat meal a couple of times each week!) Love the 30 day challenge – I’ve signed up too! :) I think my paradise is somewhere where I can be with all of my friends and people I love, with nothing to worry about other than spending time with each other. It would be warm, with gorgeous scenery (probably beachy, but not necessarily) and there would be plenty of delicious healthy food!

My favorite breakfast of all time is cold pizza. I’d eat it every day if I could :) Your meatloaf wrap sounds great.

I love mountain climbers! I just did some today in my ab workout! :D

That turkey meatloaf sounds soooo good! I want some now! Haha, too bad I have no money and will have to wait until this weekend to buy the ingredients. :(

I love any food at any time of day. Actually when I was younger two of my favorite “breakfasts” were leftover pizza or leftover chinese take out.

I never really have cravings for breakfast. Which seems odd, now that I actually think about it. I usually dont like anything too sweet, typically it’s english muffins with peanut butter or cold cereal. It just needs to be something speedy, I never have time to make elaborate breakfasts.

In the summer especially my meals seem a bit ‘backwards’. I’ll have a bigger meal in the morning and smaller, lighter and cooler things throughout the day. My lunch today is a big bowl of yogurt with blueberries, peaches, multi-grain cherrios and a few walnuts. Super yummy and sastifying and unlike anything hot in this 100 degree heat, doesn’t make me wanna throw up.

Thanks for the tip about Tina’s 30 days of self love. I’m totally in.

Wow…that’s a TON of jump rope! I’m not sure I could make it through that workout…Have you ever tried Double Unders? (You can probably guess this from the name, but it’s where you make the rope go under your feet twice for every jump: SO tiring, but totally worth it.)

I would eat breakfast food for every meal if I could…well, I guess I could, but I wouldn’t want to get sick of it because I like it so much! There are times when I don’t eat breakfast food for breakfast…it’s usually when I have delicious dinner left overs…like steak tips and broccoli…

No, I do not strictly eat breakfast foods for breakfast, I am trying as you are to listen to my cravings and go with it within reason.

I love you view of paradise – what a great way to know you are part of a much larger picture that you could even fathom.

I’m totally on team eat-what-sounds-good-for-breakfast! I’ve been known to have turkey sandwiches, black beans and rice, spaghetti, etc (not at all the same time ;) ) and I sometimes like those a lot better than tradition b’fast foods!

Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day, too! If I could turn lunch and dinner into brunch and brinner every day I definitely would :)

Breakfast for dinner is amazingggg! And if I ever want an extravagant breakfast like omelettes and Belgian waffles, I do it for lunch or dinner because I’m too lazy in the morning.

And this morning I had a hummus sandwich before the gym. Totally not breakfasty, but it was good.

I totally loveeee breakfast foods! Any time, any day, any where. Meatloaf, on the other hand, YUCK! As a kid, my parents made me eat meatloaf once. Then I threw it up all over them. Needless to say, they never tried that again :)
