Guest Post: Tracy at “Commit to Fit”

Holy Moly. I am moved in. I’m exhausted. I have a lot of unpacking in my new apartment and cleaning my old apartment left to do. Once again, I can’t wait to get back to regular blogging. I have SO much I want to say. Until then, keep enjoying the wonderful guest posts I’ve had this week. Welcome Tracy from Commit to Fit!

Every Body is Different, Listen to Yours.

My name is Tracy and my corner of the blog world is a place called Commit To Fit. I am so honoured to be doing a guest post for my favourite Okie, Lisa :)

A few weeks back, I took on the challenge of going vegan for a week.  While I am decidedly not vegan (I am more of a flexitarian), I learned quite a few things on that journey.

One of the most important lessons, is that there is no “one size fits all” solutions to health.  Some people choose to be vegetarian, some choose to practice yoga.  Others may be carnivores or run marathons.

There are many paths that we can take in life that lead us to being happier and healthier versions of ourselves.

We are bombarded with diets and exercise programs promising that we will lose weight and feel better.  They are everywhere; on the book shelves, on TV and online.

Do they work?  Maybe, but what works for me may not work for you.  The food or fitness routine that gives me the most pleasure and makes me feel great, may be your worst nightmare.

That being said, I think it is great to try things on and see what fits.  Our bodies are pretty amazing at telling us what does and does not work for us.  If you eat a certain kind of food, you may feel sick and if you perform a certain exercise, you may feel fantastic.

The bottom line:  Get to know your body and what it needs.

If you can do this, I guarantee you will never go wrong.  Your body knows best.

Stay Healthy,
Tracy

Thank you Tracy! I think that trying to force a way of life on yourself because someone else is doing it is never the way to go. Find a way of being active that you enjoy. Find a way to eat healthy…but make sure you enjoy it. Otherwise, it isn’t for you and it won’t last. And, well, that’s important.

Thanks for this post! I TOTALLY agree — everyone’s body responds differently to different diets, training plans, etc. It’s so important to find what works for your body, and more importantly, what you enjoy.

So glad you are all moved in! Hope you get settled soon!

Tracy great post! I totally agree.. it took me through trial and error to find out that me on a low carb diet isnt the best. Mind you i shouldnt eat starchy, processed carbs.. But avoiding fruits and good stuff shouldnt be done! As ive gotten older i listen to my body a lot more. When im tired i sleep. When i injure myself i rest. I use to just plow through and trudge along.. Not good.

So simple yet so true. There is NO one size fits all plan.

So true!! The second we change ourselves for someone else, or follow a fad because it worked for someone else, we set ourselves up for failure. It is so hard to get in sync with our bodies, but it pays off when everything is working and feeling great. Gotta look out for number one, even if it doesn’t fit right for someone else :)

this is very true….not everyone is a runner or a marathoner (even though I am both) I am truly and deeply a dancer :) I love that there is NOT one size fits all in fitness!
